Thanks guys! I was able to get it to work – I forgot the note that you mentioned at the bottom of the entry… that there are issues with Internet Explorer. I switched to Google Chrome, attempted to register the Kindle (and got an error saying it was already registered), but once I refreshed and tried again it registered the Kindle successfully and I was able to change the country setting to United States and thus browse the store.

Yap i did not use VPN to buy my books from amazon. I bought a book last Fri and it was all smooth. My Kindle can connect to multiple Iphone Kindle sets and Kindle for blackberry too. All seems fine.

That’s strange. Just to make sure that my method still works, I went to purchase a Kindle book, “The E-Myth Revisited” without any problem. For that matter, I didn’t even use VPN whatsoever. One of my friends who is also a regular commenter on my post, Charles, also purchased the same way just last Friday (5th Mar 10).

Please see the proof of my today’s purchase at the link below. Pay special attention to the green arrow (showing country as “United States”) and red arrow showing the date of purchase as Mar 10th (not Mar 11th because of time difference):
