Hey Chandra,

This post is about 8 reasons why a person will not be rich. And you came with this, "I don’t understand it.You claim to be Jesus’s servant. Did Jesus want anyone to be rich? Was he rich?" How can anyone not interpret you (or maybe even Jesus) are against riches?

Anyway, I think your definition of riches is very different from mine. In fact, our definition of help is also very different. Mine is not limited to spiritual help alone because I'm limited by riches. Until we have the same definitions, this thread is not going to end.

Hi,

I don't think you know where I 'm coming from. First of all I did not say that Jesus wants us to be poor. All I'm saying is that Jesus led the simplest life possible. Didn't you notice that never once I said that Jesus was poor! And I am not against the rich. Don't get me wrong. But, Jesus said that you cannot serve two masters.

As for your claim, how can we help the needy if we ourselves are poor, well, that tells me where you are coming from. Are you telling help is measured by money or wealth? Does this mean a poor cannot help another poor? Anyway, why didn't Jesus make every poor man rich if that's what a poor man need? Dear Melvin, please get a grip.

Jesus is my lord. He loves everyone, poor or rich. I agree that spiritualism has nothing to do with being poor or rich. Unless you have a conviction of Abraham, being rich is going to be a distraction as Jesus was afraid. Read Mathew and Luke. But how many of the rich can really touch their heart and say that do have the conviction of Abraham?

Hey Chandra,

I don't understand you either. Did Jesus want us to be poor? Maybe you should try asking the question to Abraham, Issac, Jacob, David, Soloman and maybe even Job. And what do you think they have in common? They're all rich! And guess what, all these men are considered righteous by God. In fact, God says that David is "a man after My heart."

Yes, Jesus did sacrifice His riches. But think again, if He has sacrificed His riches and we still remain to be poor, where or who do you think the riches will go to? And who says being rich means you can't lead a simple life? How can a person help the poor if he himself is poor? If you're poor, how much can you help another poor? Jesus came to preach the good news to the poor. What do you think, to the poor, a good news can be? What do you think to the poor, their most immediate needs are?

And our God is a rich God. His pavement is made of gold and precious stones. In fact, He is the richest Person in the universe. If you're a rich and loving father, would you want your children to be poor and to be always lacking and in need?

By the way, where is it written that as Christians you must be poor? Please understand that being poor or rich has got nothing to do with being spiritual. If you relate to being poor as spiritual, you're saying that all the poor people, whether Christians or not, are spiritual. Dear Chandra, I know where you're coming from. But I sincerely hope you can REALLY understand that being wealthy and being spiritual are of two complete different thing. You can be rich and still be spiritual. You can be poor and still be spiritual. Spirituality has really got nothing to do with riches.

God bless.

Hi,

I don't understand it. You claim to be Jesus's servant. Did Jesus want anyone to be rich? Was he rich? Jesus sacrificed his riches for the sake of the poor and led the simplest life. I don't want to get into the 'walking the talk' matter.
